Well shoot, I started to write about this buck I got during the 2017 Oregon muzzleloader season, got about halfway through it and accidentally erased it LOL. So this is the short version. Basically ran into this buck chasing a doe and darn near had to kill him in self defense, shot him at less than eight steps away, drove a 50 cal 385 grain chunk of lead right through his chest as he was facing directly at me, he still managed to run about 60 yards before he died.
I was by myself about 2 miles from the pickup, made for a long day let me tell ya. Funny thing is is that there was a whitetail buck with him and the doe, first time I had ever seen anything like that.
Anyway, pretty good deer and a fun season.
The harder you hunt, the luckier you will get.
