We had a real nice 3 point that stood in the road looking at us for several minutes.  He would walk off the road out of sight then walk back up on the road and stare at us. Definitely rutting behavior.   I killed my buck on the second evening so I didn't get to experience the rut later in the season.

best cover scent is fresh during first rain or just after

i use scent eliminator laundry soap and dryer sheets and spray with U V  killer before winter storage and just before i put on camo for hunting .

i use cover scent on feet , crotch and arm pits and scent eliminator spray on shoulders and beard cause i smoke .

in years past when i walked lots and sat and watched , i've had bucks and does walk 10 feet from me and not see me .

i've used grunts and called in bucks and a few does .

learned all this watching whitetail hunting shows on tv , way before i had internet and ordered thru cabelas .

now my walmart stocks them and although different brand they werk just as good

the cover scent i use is tinks doe estras and also put it on dog to cover his scent

Bbh Better be careful putting that stuff on your dog, you might have to shoot a buck off his back.
