3x2 taken this evening in D4. Better pics to come tomorrow and the story along with it.

5 points for the little guys!!

Ahh hell...I'm still excited so here it goes. 3x2 swamp buck down...FINALLY!! Same spot I shot last year's 4x4, my avatar pic. Unfortunately, I gut shot him and found him about a mile away from the spot right at dusk and ended his misery with a neck shot...the only shot he would give me. I was really far from my truck and by myself, so I decided to leave him right there until the morning. Not a bad buck...but nothing big. I actually passed on him right after last week's storm looking for a big one, but never found one. Better pics tomorrow when I go get him.

I love Mother Nature and I thank her for allowing me the opportunity to explore her land!

New ideas don't take hold because people become convinced of them, they take hold because the people believing the old stuff die.

Geezer points coming in. 8 points and someone's going to have to make the call on the base trash; 3 extra points on one side all 3/4" long. Close up of the trash is posted on the main board under "benton county rut is on". Consensus on the other post is 11 points total for this one.... ?!?

Well there is not much to tell, but here goes. I would like to title this story "The Doe That Wasn't". Cowgirltrouble and I were kinda following Jud around yesterday and a big three point came across our road at about 150 MPH.
No chance for him. Alyson charged off down into the brush but he was gone to the next county. Anyway, we ran
into Jud, and of course you know about his 4 point. After looking at it, and having been hunting for over 6 days,
we really got inspired and took off looking for a deer. As you know, I had the "any deer" tag, so anything with fur on it was fare game. I also hold a "disabled Hunters permit', which gives me a "companion hunter permit". Alyson (Cowgirltrouble) was my companion hunter. The permit has several features about it, one being that
the companion can shoot your animal for you. Well, we had just left Jud and his companions (and 4 point) and went down the road a piece, and turned around. On the way back, in the middle of the road about 70 yards away was this big deer. From our vantage point it appeared to be a large doe. Exactly what I had been looking for all season. I told Alyson to shoot it. She took my 250 Remington Classic and bailed out of the pickup. She
took up a position and steadied herself on her knee. Boom, the 250 sent a 100 grain Silvertip dead into the
deer. It jumped and took off into the brush. Alyson located a blood trail and found the deer. She grabbed it and drug it back to the road. She turned it over and began gutting. Lo and behold, it had a "wienee". We examined its head and it had two "bumps", but not yet through the hair. My "any deer tag" paid off. So the end of this story
is here. Thus, the title "The Doe That Wasn't". Sure gonna be good meal or two. Hopefully, I can get a couple
pictures posted. Also, not sure if this one qualifies as a doe in the Buck Off Contest. I would settle for 1 point for the geezers. I don't think Alyson was signed up as a whipper. Everything is all legal, just different and not accounted for in the Buck Off Rules. Muskrat (can't get pictures to upload. See them in Main Forum)
