I've also hunted Elk, Muledeer and Antelope many times across the western states and in my younger days was a hardcore duck hunter.
I'm married to a fantastic woman and have two beautiful step daughters and am fortunate to live in a great place for anyone who loves Blacktails. My wife and I are web designers by trade which works out great for my Blacktail addiction.

My name is Joe and I live Chowchilla. I am primarily a predator hunter and have been lucky enough to meet some ranchers in the area that allow me to control the coyote populations on those ranches. Since moving from Utah to California in 2004 I have been chasing Blacktail on public land but have yet to connect with a buck. I have been present when several nice bucks have been taken primarily in A zone and D7 but I can't seem to connect myself. This year I have moved my hunting focus a little further north hoping to explore the D6 area.

I'm by no means a trophy hunter, but I don't care for ending the life of young buck when there are so many larger deer out there. That said, it took me 6 years to get my first buck, and I've passed on smaller bucks all but maybe 3 years, this year passing a spike/fork standing on the upside of the dirt road while driving in to my spot. I coulda shot it and bought another tag the next day, but my conscience would eat at me for killing a little first year buck. It's still not as bad as coming home to a large 3x4 in my yard nearly every day I hunted the previous season, but not being able to shoot it because my landlord was afraid a neighbor would complain.
Anyway, got skunked this year, kinda hard to plan a good hunt when working 6 days a week. A kid I worked with said I could hunt their private property out toward bfe, but never came through, I'm guessing because they probably grow pot out there. I plan to get another bow and do some things different next year to increase my odds.
Here's a pic of the little guy I let go this year.
