Here is my first ever attempt at mounting anything. My stepson is getting into it and is getting pretty creative. While he was gone yesterday I decided to give it a try. It's a little rough but with some grooming, I think it will be okay, especially for my first.

I forgot to add that his left leg was pretty broken up so I had to tuck it up and make him stand on one foot. As for the accorns in the pic, while skinning out the head, I tried pulling out the neck but couldn't because there were 4 accorns in his throat. I am thinking of making them a part of the finished mount somehow.

That's pretty good looking man.. I'd be proud of it and you're bound to improve and learn new things every time you try it!!

Thanks for the compliments. I definitely learned more of what not to do than anything. We have a few other ducks in the freezer, I figured I'l try again soon. My stepson is the duck hunter in the family. I go every once in a while to fill time in between deer and turkey season, but trying this out is sure alot of fun.

Did you finish the woodie or is that the final product? I am interested in trying one day. I am a duck hunting fool and always pull a bird or two with intentions of mounts, but never do.
